This race is fun enough that we are quite okay with running it on a Sunday morning. The 9:00 start time is friendly, and with a start on the trail by Principal Park, parking is pretty easy. One of our Navs, Ryan Schulte, is quite involved with this race which raises awareness and funds to combat prostate cancer. The trail running along the river is fun, there is some good food for attenders and a reasonable chance to medal. :)
Here are a few words from the race people:
Prostate Cancer Awareness of Central Iowa is proud to present its fourth run/walk event. 100% of all proceeds stay right here in Iowa to help Iowans affected by prostate cancer. Since our inaugural event, we have donated back nearly $270,000 to the Iowa prostate cancer community. With your help, we can help even more Iowa men and their families.
A classic race that we have enjoyed for years. We had experienced a little rain on race day, but that problem faded away the last couple years. This is a smaller race that is very friendly for our teams and parking is good. It's a neat race and fundraiser that raises awareness and funds for those who have experienced infant loss ... and it honors the families - we like that.
The race begins at 8:15 at Kinnick-Feller Park (near the river) in Adel. They ask that all participants be ready at 8:00 for the Angel Presentation and balloon release.
This race location - Terra Park - will be familiar to many - it is the same awesome place where we just held our TRF Try-it Day. We were unable to run this event for the last couple years because of conflicts with other chosen races .... but not this year. It's a fun race to attend and run. Access and parking is very good. The race folks really love our teams, and they will be glad to have us back this year.
