Taste of Hope 5K

Jul 27, 2024 ♦ 8:00 A.M. ♦ West Des Moines, IA

This fun West Des Moines race is a regular in our racing agenda.  It happens at Hope Church, which has great access and parking.  The race takes off at 8:00, and our teams have been blessed to earn a few medals for their Captains in previous years.  We'll get Captains registered in time to make sure they receive a nice race shirt.  Plus, a few door prizes are given away after the race.

Sweet Corn Festival 5K

Aug 10, 2024 ♦ 7:30 a.m. ♦ Adel, IA

One of our most favorite races !   We have a long, fun history at this race, and we typically have many teams who take part.  In addition to this fun race, some stay to watch the parade (we have reserved seating) AND some teams choose to be in the parade along with our TRF truck.  That is a LOT of fun.

They did move up the start to an early time because of the parade - the race is at 7:30 a.m.  Not our favorite start time, but the race day experience makes it worthwhile.  In the absence of holding our own race this year, this will be our top Adel race to run.

Blue Believers 5K

Sep 21, 2024 ♦ 9:00 a.m. ♦ Des Moines, IA

Another great 5K that happens just outside Principal Park.  We've run this race many times, and one of our own Navs is a doctor and heavily involved with this great fundraiser to fight prostrate cancer.  Easy access, easy parking and a friendly start time - 9 a.m.

DMAAC 5K

Sep 28, 2024 ♦ 8:00 A.M. ♦ Ankeny, IA

DMAAC puts on a nice race, and we love being a part of it.  We really like easy access and great parking - they have it.  The race starts at 8 a.m. so the fun happens before they day warms up a bunch.  The route circles DMAAC Lake, so the teams get a nice view during this run race.

John's Baby Steps 5K

Oct 05, 2024 ♦ 8:20 A.M. ♦ Adel, IA

Head to Adel for this early October 5K race.  We love supporting the mission of John's Baby Steps and their work to provide education, prevention and comfort with early child loss.  It's a laid back small town race and it's a very easy one to access.  We have also been blessed to medal a few times in years past.  This is a neat race and we are honored to be attending it.  The race starts at 8:20 a.m. and they ask participants to be ready for the pre-race angel presentaion at 8:00.

IMT Des Moines half marathon

Oct 20, 2024 ♦ 8:00 A.M. ♦ Des Moines, IA

Team RunFree has raced the IMT half marathon for several years now.  We typically race with 2 or 3 Captains and we run 2 Navigators per cart - more racers... more fun !   The race begins on Court Avenue at 8 a.m. and the assisted mobility teams ar given a 5 minute early start - yay !   Not a lot of our Captains are up for a race that has them in the run cart for over 2 hours.  For those who who are, they are rewarded with an exciting race with a cheering crowd from start to finish.

Santa Run 5K

Dec 14, 2024 ♦ 10:00 a.m. ♦ Des Moines, IA

Our race season typically ends in October, but a few years back, Fleet Feet Sports started hosting the Santa Run 5K, and we were hooked right away.  We typically have 3 to 5 teams in this race as they run the streets with 600 other runners - all dressed as Santa Clause. The East Village race has a friendly start time of 10 a.m.   Some race mornings have been rather chilly and some have been pretty nice.  The teams bundle up accordingly, run fast and have a LOT of fun !

Some GREAT additional news is that they have chosen Team RunFree as one of their charities.  Each runner has a few charity choices to choose from when they register.  Not only do they get a free Santa suit, their chosen charity receives $15 from their race registration !   We received some very generous checks in the past couple years, and we are excited and honored to again be a Fleet Feet Sports charity.
